Singles Cricket Ladder
- General information
- On-going king-of-the-hill-type tournament.
- Players must participate in at least one regular Thursday-night match each season to maintain eligibility.
- Players who do not register at the beginning of new season automatically move to bottom of ladder.
- $10 initial fee to enter tournament at bottom of ladder.
- May challenge players up to two places ahead.
- Top man and top lady at end of September will represent TDC at the Area II regional cricket playoff.
- Challenge procedure:
- Challenger pays $5 and registers challenge with league statistician.
Challenges are registered on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Player to be challenged is notified, and a time and venue for the match is selected.
Matches should be played following regular Thursday-night league play whenever possible.
- Players must answer challenge within 7 days or will lose by default.
- Players are only required to answer one challenge in any 7-day period.
- Match format:
- The match will consist of the best two-out-of-three legs of American "slop" Cricket,
according to standard ADO rules.
- Each leg must be corked. Standard ADO rules will govern the corking procedure.
- A coin toss will determine which player has the option of corking first in the first leg.
The loser of the coin toss has the option of corking first in the third leg, if a third leg is played.
The loser of the first leg has the option to cork first in the second leg.
- Players will chalk their own matches. Turn scores must be recorded before darts are pulled.
- The match will begin and end with a handshake.
- Reporting results:
- Results of a challenge match should be reported to the league statistician within 48 hours of the match,
preferably by e-mail.
- Rounds-of-nine and "dead-eyes" (three double bulls) should also be reported to receive ADO recognition.
- Upon a successful challenge, the ladder ranking will be modified by moving the challenger's name to the
place just ahead of the defender.
- Protests:
- Protests must be lodged in writing along with match results, preferably by e-mail with a copy to the league chairman.
- Protests will be resolved by a commitee of all neutral captains.
- The ultimate remedy for any protest is for the match to be repeated in the presence of a league official.
