Tucson Dart Club Rules
- Matches will be played on Thursday nights, beginning at 7:00 pm. The first cork must be thrown by 7:10 pm.
No postponements are permitted.
- If a player is not present when the opposing team is ready to begin his singles game, he must forfeit the point.
If both members of a doubles team are not present when their opponents are ready to begin their doubles game,
that point will be forfeited as well. If neither team has a player ready to play a point when the previous point
is completed, then no point will be awarded to either team.
- The order in which the points are played may be altered if this is agreed to by both teams.
- All teams in a conference will share the same sponsor. Teams will be designated as the "home" or "away" team
according to the schedule published by the committee.
- Matches will consist of three singles games of 301, followed by three doubles games of 501.
Each game will be worth one point, and will be decided by the best two-out-of-three legs.
- Games of 301/501/701 will be played in accordance with ADO tournament rules. Doubling out is required to win a leg.
Doubling on is also required for legs of 301.
- Any team member may compete in one and only one singles game.
- Only team members who play in the singles games may participate in the doubles or team games.
No substitutions are allowed once the singles games are completed.
- Each team member will play in exactly two doubles games. This implies that each doubles game must be
played with a different partner.
- The captain of the home team will enter the line up for the singles games on the score sheet,
then fold the score sheet lengthwise and pass it to the visiting captain. The visiting team captain
may not view the home team's line up prior to entering his line up. Line ups for the doubles will be
entered in a similar manner after the singles games are completed.
- Each leg of each game will begin by corking the bull. The chalker will decide the winner of each cork,
and may request a recork if there is not a clear winner. A recork is also required if both darts land in either
the single or double bull, or if the first dart becomes dislodged after the second dart is thrown. The order in
which the players cork will alternate for each recork. The home team will have the option to cork first or
second in the first leg. The loser of the first leg has the option to cork first or second in the second leg.
The visiting team will have the option to cork first or second in the third leg if a third leg must be played.
- After the first leg has been corked, no practice darts may be thrown until the conclusion of the game.
- A member of the home team will chalk the first game. Chalking responsibilities will thereafter alternate between the two teams.
- Darts may not be touched or removed from the board until the chalker has recorded the score or,
in the case of a cork, decided the winner. It is the responsibility of each player to ensure that his
score is correct before removing his darts.
- A dart must stick for at least three seconds with its point embedded in the board in order to be counted.
In the event of a controversy, the ruling of the chalker will apply.
- Arithmetic errors must be identified and corrected before the affected player throws his next dart.
Once the next dart is thrown, the score will stand unless a change is agreed upon by all players involved.
- Opposing players will shake hands after the first leg has been corked, and at the conclusion of the game.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct, including throwing darts in a reckless manner, "bone-crusher" handshakes,
or abusive language or gestures, is strictly prohibited.
- Gambling is neither authorized nor sanctioned by TDC.
- The team captains are jointly responsible for completing the score sheet, including notations of special achievements,
the winner of each cork and, in the doubles games, the number (1 or 2) of the corker. The score sheet should be checked and
initialed at the conclusion of each game. At the conclusion of the match, each captain must check the entire score sheet for
accuracy, and sign it.
- The captain of the winning team is responsible for entering the results on the league web site. In the event of a tie,
the home captain will bear this responsibility. Scores must be entered by noon on the Saturday following the match, or a point
deduction my be assessed. A hard copy of the score sheet must then be transmited to the league statistition within one week.
- If two or more teams within a division are tied for first or second place at the conclusion of the season,
the tied teams will be ranked by the total number of legs won during the regular season. Teams that remain in a tie at
this point will be ranked by the total number of corks won during the regular season. If these method fail to completely
break the tie, teams that remain in a tie will play a tie-breaker match.
- When a conference contains two or more divisions, the winning team from each division will compete in a seeded,
single-elimination tournament to determine the conference champions and runners up. Seeding will be based on winning
percentage during the regular season and, if necessary, other objective criteria selected by the statistician.
- Deviations from these rules in unusual circumstances may be permitted only with the unanimous consent of all captains.
